one way valve would like to tell you an interesting story from my friend about coffee.

This story occured to my friend's friend, when she was travelling to Italy. As we know, Italy is a kingdom of coffee, lots of people are eager to relish a cup of coffee after they arrive in Italy, my friend's friend including.

She didn't hesitate to order a cup of Latte that is her favorite after steping in a coffee shop. After awhile the server passed her a cup of hot milk, which made her feel confused so much. She shaked her hand and said "no" to the server. The server said:"This is what you order, Latte is milk." She said:"I want a cup of coffee, not milk, but coffee." The server was clear about her meaning finally, took her milk away and brought a cup of Latte coffee, politely said:"Sorry, madam, this is Latte coffee, milk and coffee." The other customers in coffee shops all smiled, the server patiently explained to her that she made a mistake in her expression.

Well, it is quite common actually. If you order Latte in Italian coffee shops, they will just pass you a cup of milk, but this doesn't mean they misunderstand your meaning. In Italy, Latte is just milk. If you want to order a cup of Latte we drink as coffee, you should said "I want a cup of Latte coffee" instead of "I want a cup of Latte", this ligual joke is atually the result of cultural differences.
